Forum: etree Subject: Why are we archiving with such slow bandwidths?

The archive is a great idea. It was even better when we had better bandwidth. But now the bandwidth is so slow, the my connections timeout before I can even finish downloading 1 shn file. So what's the point?

Can I suggest offering more Bit Torrent sessions (much easier, much faster, more people can get the show)

Forum: etree Subject: apology and plans for bandwidth

Again I apologize for the slow service of these important files. Through volunteer efforts we are trying several "fixes" in parallel:
Onion Networks
and we will be trying out another one soon which is a caching solution.

The only good news out of this is that there is a large and artist-friendly collection that we can do development on these distributed distribution systems. Important work that needed a good testbed.

If there are any others that would like to help engineer these solutions, we can use the help.

The bad news is that you guys are suffering through the experimentation. Your good humor and willingness to not give up permanently is important. Thank you for helping fix this and I hope we can get the music playing again soon.

Nice. I'll always be using the archive, but recently not for downloading purposes. BitTorrent is a great solution. Everyone shares bandwidth and everything (I think you know the whole deal behind it). It's really a great idea.
